The Workshop of Promoting Responsible Business Conduct: The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the Role of the National Contact Points was jointly held by Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation (CAITEC) and OECD on May 28th. More than 90 guests attended the workshop, including the officials from the Department of International Trade and Economic Affairs and the Department of Outward Investment and Economic Cooperation of MOFCOM, the officials from OECD and the heads of its National Contact Points in 14 countries including the UK, Germany, Canada and Norway, the ambassadors of the relative countries to China and the representatives of Chinese and foreign companies, scholars and experts.

Mr. Gu Xueming, President of CAITEC, and Mr. Roel NIEUWENKAMP, Chair of Working Party on Responsible Business Conduct of OECD, made the opening remarks. Mr. Ren Hongbin, Executive Vice President of CAITEC, chaired the workshop. On the workshop, OECD officials and experts introduced the Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, explained the roles and core functions of the National Contact Points, and the importance of responsible business conducts for enterprise sustainable development. The attending guests had thorough discussions and exchanges on solving the responsible business conducts, commercial appeal and arbitration, etc. The workshop was co-organized by the Instituteof Overseas Investment and Economic Cooperation, the International Economic Cooperation Magazine and the Department of Public Relations Development of CAITEC.
