At the invitation by the Association of Efficient Consumer Response of France and the Institute of Grocery Distribution (IGD) of the UK, Mr. Gu Xueming, CAITEC President, attended the Seminar on Optimal Management and Logistics Standardization of China-EU Supply Chain, and then conducted field studies on the development of logistics standardization in Europe from May 1st to 8th.

In his opening remark for the seminar, Mr. Gu said that a good momentum has been seen in China’s logistics industry in recent years,  with new logistics model being introduced, more information technologies applied, and the policy environment continuously improved, and a modern logistics service system is progressively taking shape in China. However, he pointed out the weaknesses in China’s logistics industry, such as higher costs, underdevelopment in informatization and standardization, inadequacy of professional services, and particularly the big gap in the unit operation approaches. He said the logistics industry is highly developed in Europe with its world-class facilities and well-planned logistics system, and is highly standardized with advanced capacity of integrated supply chain management, which may serve as a good lesson for the development of China’s logistics industry.
